Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can control it.

Who we are
USA Treatment Centers (“we”, “us”) operates the website at usatreatmentcenters.com, an independent directory of addiction treatment facilities in the United States. This policy explains how we handle information about visitors to that website.
We are not a HIPAA covered entity
We are an information publisher, not a healthcare provider, health plan, or healthcare clearinghouse. We are not a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA, and information you send us is not protected health information under that law.
Please do not send us clinical details, diagnoses, medication lists, or other sensitive health information. We do not need it, we ask you not to provide it, and our contact form is not a secure medical channel. Share that information only with a licensed provider over a channel they designate.
Information you give us
The only information we ask for directly is what you type into our contact form:
- Your name, email address, and phone number
- The facility name and state your enquiry concerns, where relevant
- The category of your request and the message you write
We use this solely to read and respond to your enquiry, and to keep a record of listing corrections. We do not sell it, rent it, or use it for marketing. Messages are retained for up to 24 months and then deleted.
Our interactive tools — the screener, cost calculator, matchmaker, and insurance checker — run in your browser. The answers you enter are used to render your result and are not transmitted to our servers or stored by us unless you separately choose to submit the contact form.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we and our providers collect standard technical data when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. This is used for security, troubleshooting, and understanding aggregate traffic patterns.
Analytics, search tools, and advertising
We use the following third-party services. Each sets its own cookies or identifiers and processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Google Analytics 4 — aggregate traffic measurement (pages viewed, approximate location, device, traffic source). We enable IP anonymisation where available. See Google's Privacy Policy and opt-out browser add-on.
- Google AdSense — displays advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies and device identifiers to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can manage this at Google My Ad Center or optout.aboutads.info. See our Advertising Disclosure.
- Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools — report how our pages perform in search results. These report aggregate query and impression data to us; they do not identify individual visitors.
Full detail on the cookies these set, and how to refuse them, is in our Cookie Policy.
Third-party data sources we query
To build facility listings and reference content we query public APIs, including SAMHSA FindTreatment.gov, openFDA, NIH/NIDA and MedlinePlus, ClinicalTrials.gov, and OpenStreetMap/Nominatim for geocoding. These requests are made from our servers, not from your browser, and carry no information about you.
Two services do load content into your browser: map tiles from OpenStreetMap and imagery from Unsplash. Those providers will see your IP address as a normal consequence of serving the file. Attribution and licensing for every source is listed on our Data Sources page.
Legal bases and disclosure
We process contact form data to respond to your request, and technical and analytics data for our legitimate interest in operating and improving the website. Where consent is required for cookies or personalised advertising in your jurisdiction, we rely on the consent you give through our cookie controls.
We disclose information only to the service providers named above, and where we are required to by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of others. We do not sell personal information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to opt out of targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. California residents have these rights under the CCPA/CPRA; residents of the EEA and UK have equivalent rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, use our contact form. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Your browser's Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, where sent, is treated as a valid opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
Children
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security and international transfers
We use HTTPS across the site and limit access to submitted messages. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws differ from those where you live.
Changes and contact
We will post any revision to this policy on this page with an updated effective date. Questions about this policy, or requests relating to your information, should go through our contact form, which reaches our privacy team directly.
