Everything in this directory traces back to a public source. Here is each one, what we use it for, and its terms.

Attribution
We build on public data published by US federal agencies and open data projects. Those agencies and projects do not endorse, sponsor, or verify this website, and we are not affiliated with any of them. Where a licence requires attribution, it is given below.
Sources
Used for: Primary source for treatment facility records: name, address, services, and accepted payment types.
Terms: US federal government work, generally in the public domain. SAMHSA does not endorse this website.
Used for: Drug labelling, recall notices, and safety communications on the medications and alerts pages.
Terms: Public API. openFDA data is not for clinical decision-making and is provided without warranty.
Used for: Research summaries and clinical background for condition and science content.
Terms: US federal government work. NIH does not endorse this website.
Used for: Active addiction treatment studies listed by state on facility pages.
Terms: Public registry maintained by the US National Library of Medicine.
Used for: Pharmacology reference data for medication profiles.
Terms: Public database maintained by the NCBI.
Used for: Base map tiles and geocoding for all interactive facility maps.

Known limitations
Public registries are updated on their own schedules and can be incomplete or stale. A facility may have changed services, insurance acceptance, ownership, or licensing status since the last registry refresh, and some facilities are absent from federal datasets entirely. Photography is illustrative stock imagery, not photographs of the listed facilities.

Reporting a data error
If a listing is wrong, tell us through the contact form. We verify reported changes against the source registry and correct them, as described in our Editorial Policy.
